Wow - I can hardly believe that it is summer again! Another school year has come to an end, and, with it, a wonderful Power Lunch year is in the books (pun intended). Once again the children and volunteers had a great year and filled their book logs with a mind boggling variety of books reflecting each child's individual personality. As always, the end of the year finished with a wonderful tradition. Each volunteer gives their student a book that is theirs to take home and keep. The kids take such pride in these books and we know the books will keep the kids excited about reading during the summer. While school is out, I am already busy gearing up for the 2010-11 school year! Plans are in the works to launch Power Lunch at additional schools. If you would like to find out how to volunteer as a Reading Mentor starting in the fall, please send me an e-mail. We would love for you to join us. Thanks, Julie Katz, Executive Director

Power
Lunch is a lunchtime literacy and mentoring program which takes volunteers into elementary schools
and matches them one-on-one with second and third grade students. The
volunteers then go once each week and read aloud with their students.
